What types of premium paint does Backdrop offer?
Backdrop paints are designed to look amazing on your clients’ walls. They include the following finishes:
- Standard finish. This is a durable, semi-matte finish with a 6% sheen and is ideal for almost any interior wall or surface. It helps hide imperfections and isn’t shiny!
- Semi-Gloss. This has a 30% sheen level, which is ideal for trim and bathrooms—areas that sometimes need the extra protection.
- Cabinet and Door paint. This paint has the same 30% as the semi-gloss but was designed specifically to use on kitchen cabinets and doors. Backdrop recommends this paint for cabinets, doors, and furniture with drawers and cupboards.
- Exterior paint. This comes in Standard and Semi-Gloss finish. The standard finish is recommended for use on the bulk of any house’s exterior, and the Semi-Gloss is recommended for trim, doors, and shutters.
- Interior and exterior primer. Backdrop recommends that you use this any time you need to paint over wood surfaces.
Is primer necessary with Backdrop paint?
If you’re wondering whether you need to use primer with Backdrop paint, the answer is “usually no.” Yet there are a few instances where Backdrop recommends that you use its interior or exterior primer as a first coat:
- If you’re painting over a dark color
- If you’re painting over a glossy surface
- If you’re painting over bare/unpainted drywall
- If you’re applying paint to a wood surface (i.e. furniture, cabinets, or doors)
- If your walls have smoke damage or any staining
Backdrop’s paint is otherwise self-priming and has great coverage and hide (meaning it goes on well and covers well). That said, they never steer Taskers away from using their primer, which is formulated to give the best results with all their products.
