Courtney and Patrick’s story is proof that love can find you when you least expect it. In January 2021, Courtney hired Patrick—a Tasker—to hang photos in her apartment, and the sparks flew immediately.
What started as a simple task quickly turned into a five-hour conversation that felt effortless and natural. Courtney even texted her mom, “MOM, I AM IN LOVE WITH MY TASKER. OMG, I LOVE HIM.”
Fast forward to summer 2024, and Courtney and Patrick tied the knot during a beautiful ceremony that represented them as a couple down to every detail, including inviting us to be part of their big day.
We couldn’t have been any more honored to help them celebrate. Here’s how it went!
We Now Pronounce You Husband and Wife
Because Taskrabbit was part of their story from the very start, Courtney and Patrick couldn’t think of anything more fitting than having someone from the Taskrabbit team help them tie the knot, bringing their story full circle.
When the couple reached out to us about having someone lead their ceremony, they had no idea what to expect. But as soon as we got the email, our leadership team started fighting over who would get the honor.
Ultimately, Ben—our Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Counsel—was the Taskrabbit team member who received the privilege of leading their ceremony. In the months leading up to the big day, he spent time with Courtney and Patrick virtually to get to know them so he could craft a meaningful speech with a personal touch.
When their wedding day finally arrived, Ben was thrilled to help bring the couple’s vision to life. We are still pinching ourselves that we got to play such a special part in their relationship and celebration!
A Love Party to Remember
Courtney and Patrick’s “Love Party” wedding was hosted at a summer camp-themed venue complete with cabins, vintage trailers, and glamping tents. Guests—and Ben!—enjoyed activities like canoeing and arts and crafts, and the night before the ceremony, everyone gathered for a movie screening.
The morning of the ceremony, guests were encouraged to come to breakfast in their pajamas, and instead of a ring bearer, their nephew carried a picnic basket with two boxes of cereal down the aisle. Then, Courtney and Patrick poured their favorite cereals into a bowl instead of exchanging rings.
When we asked the couple about their favorite moments from the weekend, Courtney couldn’t pick just one moment and listed a few of her favorites, “When a bumblebee landed in my bouquet right before our ceremony, when Pat and I roasted our first s’more (in place of a cake cutting) as the sun set, seeing everyone waving their pennant flags as we exited our ceremony, my dad’s incredible speech. The whole weekend was so special!”
It was truly a beautiful day, just ask Ben!
How a Tasker Helped With Wedding Prep
Patrick used to be a Tasker himself. Of course, the couple hired a Tasker to help bring everything together!
The couple rented 150 vintage china plates for their reception, but the plates were dusty from being in storage. A Tasker helped them clean the dishes, forming a cleaning train that made the process much faster and easier. This assistance allowed Courtney and Patrick to focus on other aspects of their wedding and enjoy the day without stress.
The one thing Courtney and Patrick wish they had done differently was hiring a Tasker for the clean-up the morning after the wedding. The scramble to leave the venue by the 11 am checkout time ended up being hectic. Courtney shares, “Having a Tasker or two there to help us clean/pack up would’ve saved us a lot of stress and given us more time to hang with our friends and family before heading home.”
As they move forward, Courtney and Patrick see Taskrabbit as a continuing part of their lives. While Patrick is handy and often tackles projects himself, they appreciate the luxury of having a Tasker to help when they’re stressed or need some time back.
A Final Word of Advice
For those planning their own weddings, Courtney and Patrick’s advice is simple: have fun with it. “Weddings should be a representation of who you are as a couple, so try not to get caught up in what a wedding ‘should’ be or look like. Take the traditions that speak to you and disregard what doesn’t. To summarize: be true to you.”
Courtney and Patrick’s wedding day was a beautiful, stress-free celebration of love, filled with unique and memorable moments that they will cherish forever. We’ll forever be grateful to have played a part in their story! And if you’re planning a celebration of your own, don’t forget that Taskers are here to help you celebrate.
