With springtime comes new, blooming opportunities, and we’re excited to share that Taskrabbit has implemented six big Tasker updates over the last few months. From new task categories and ways to earn Elite status to a new retirement plan partnership with Robinhood, we anticipate that these updates will bring you fresh enthusiasm as you build your businesses!
1. Automated client cancellation fees
We’re updating our client cancellation policy to reduce client cancellations and bring more clarity to both sides of our marketplace. Soon, you’ll be able to get an automatic payment for an hour of your time in the event of a client no-show. To be eligible for payouts, you’ll need to avoid any violations of our Terms of Service.
A client cancellation fee may soon be applicable if:
- The task was canceled by the client within 24 hours of the scheduled task time.
- The client is unavailable or unresponsive at the time of the task, so the task cannot be completed.
2. Elite criteria revamp
After hearing your feedback about our Elite program—Taskrabbit’s way of highlighting top-performing Taskers to clients—we’ve updated and simplified how your Performance score is assessed. It is now a simple calculation: the number of invoices you submit divided by the number of task invitations you receive, per category you’ve opted in to. It’s important to note that an invitation is counted towards your score regardless of whether you accept or forfeit the task. For example, if you invoice 96 General Mounting tasks after receiving 100 General Mounting invitations, you’ll have a Performance Score of 96%.
Taskers with a Performance score that falls within the top 15% of all Taskers in their metro per category become eligible for Elite status. All other Elite criteria remain the same. Check your app for details on how you can earn Elite status!
3. Flat-rate IKEA Assembly tasks
Clients at IKEA stores, on the IKEA website, and on taskrabbit.com/ikea can now book flat-rate assembly tasks—something we anticipate will result in steadier and more rewarding work volume for you. We’ve successfully implemented this same model in Canada and Europe and have seen a substantial increase in client demand and fewer cancellations, and we’re excited to bring it to the US so we can continue improving the Taskrabbit experience for everyone.
Here’s what this opportunity means:
- Straightforward flat-rate pricing: All IKEA items to be assembled as part of the task are listed in the task description so you’ll know exactly how much you’re earning in advance. Flat rates are based on each item and complexity of assembly, and you’ll be paid for every item you assemble. Check out some examples of flat rates here!
- Your stellar reputation continues: Your past ratings, reviews, and task history will remain on your profile as always, influencing how you’re matched with clients.
- Effortless task invitations: You’ll receive task invitations based on your task history and availability.
- Increased predictability: Clients can still show their appreciation by tipping you, but any additional expenses incurred (such as hardware, parking fees, and tolls) are not permitted. Learn more here.
4. Truck-Assisted Help Moving skill launch
The process of scoping Moving tasks is now easier than ever with the launch of our new Truck-Assisted Help Moving skill! We launched this skill under the Moving category so that clients could more easily book tasks requiring a large vehicle capable of moving large items and boxes. If you have a moving vehicle, and the skill and licenses necessary for this category, consider opting in! Your rates should be set to include any vehicle fees that you may typically charge. 5. Robinhood IRA retirement plans for Taskers
Taskrabbit has partnered with Robinhood, which is offering Taskers access to Robinhood Retirement and a Boosted Match. Robinhood Retirement’s IRAs reward customers with extra money on top of every deposit. Through the program, Taskers will receive a boosted match of 2% for the first year. Terms and conditions apply.*
Taskers will also receive access to financial guidance via GreenPath Financial Wellness, a trusted nonprofit that helps people reach their financial goals. Taskers will have unlimited access to a dedicated phone hotline for all their financial questions.
6. Chat templates
You’ll soon be able to create and save custom messages and seamlessly pull them into chats with clients. This means no more phone notes, and no more typing the same message over and over! We’ve also updated the chat box UI to improve your overall chat experience, which includes a simplified method for adding photos and videos.
Tasker Tip
Did you know there are tasks that typically see an uptick each spring? With the change of season, clients will need help with new skills in the Outdoor Maintenance category, including Landscaping Help, Branch & Hedge Trimming, and Power Washing. They’ll also be thinking about summer, which means you may see A/C-unit-installation task invitations coming through the Home Maintenance category.
